World Bank, IDB and Ex-Im Bank Loans to Hunt Oil’s Peruvian Fossil Fuel Project Would Breach Bank’s Own Guidelines, Amazon Watch Warns

The delegation, including Congresswoman Gloria Ramos, as well as representatives of AIDESEP, Peru’s national organization of indigenous Amazonians, is in Washington to meet executives at Ex-Im, the IDB, and the IFC. Those bank’s loan decisions regarding the Camisea gas project are expected over the next month, with the Ex-Im’s due next week. The delegation wants the decisions postponed until the Banks can be satisfied that their environmental and social policies will not be breached.
