LOANS IN 2007 During 2007, banks in Bulgaria granted loans of 13.779 billion euro, or 52.3 per cent more than in 2006, Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said. A total of 77 individuals took out loans for over one million leva in 2007. These loans totalled 151 million leva. Of these, 46 per cent were drawn in euro and the rest in leva. BNB data showed that 173 households had drawn bank loans in the range between 500 000 and one million leva.
More than 40 000 Bulgarians had bank deposits of over 50 000 leva. There were about 15 000 bank saving accounts of between 40 and 50 000 leva.
